Types of training

Depending on all these details, we may offer you various types of training:

1. Intra-company: Individual lessons given as a presentation

Intra-entreprise : Cours particuliers en présentiel

This is the most effective, the fastest and the most flexible method. The teacher comes to your workplace; there are no travelling costs or times for yourself or for your employees. With the approval of our educational supervisor, the teacher fully adapts the curriculum to your profile, your needs, your progress, your difficulties and your field of activity… This method is especially well-suited to:

  • People who often travel or who have a complicated schedule (who need to be flexible and therefore may regularly miss group lessons, thus losing track of the curriculum or slowing down the rest of the group)
  • People who have a particular profile, needs or goals which will not fit in with a standard group lesson
  • People who are very reserved and who have trouble speaking to a group
  • Or exactly the opposite, people who want to be sure they can talk as much as possible!

2. Intra-company: “Duo” lesson as a presentation

This is a good compromise between an individual and a group lesson, providing excellent value for money and good flexibility. It is especially well-suited to:

  • People with a comparable level in languages (and therefore compatible)
  • People who do not want individual or group lessons
  • People who need group emulation – even a small group – to motivate themselves

Recommended duration of a lesson: 2 hours  |  Languages: all

3. Intra-company: Group lessons

This is the most economical option for a company that needs to train several people in the same subject and at the same level. In order to guarantee everyone has a reasonable practice time, these modules are restricted to a maximum of 6 students.

Advantages:  optimised budget, greater group energy

Disadvantages: since the schedule is drawn up in advance, people who miss a lesson will not have a ”catch-up” lesson (even though the teacher gives them the documents handed out during their absence). Those who choose this option therefore run the risk of having trouble keeping up with their colleagues if they miss one or more lessons and they may slow down the rest of the group if the teacher has to repeat lessons for absentees. Also, the course is adapted to the group average and therefore less flexible than individual lessons.

Recommended duration of a lesson: 2 hours  |  Languages: all

4. Inter-company: Group lessons

This is the most economical format for a company that only has one or two people to train on the same subject and at the same level, or for self-employed people with lower budgets.

The schedule and the curriculum are drawn up in advance and the students travel to wherever the training is taking place. Inter-company courses are available for the most common languages and at the most common levels.

Recommended duration of a lesson: 2 hours  |  Languages: English, Italian, French as a foreign language

5. Individual distance lessons (video-conference)

N.B.: This concept has nothing to do with e-learning, which is not available at LINGUAPOLIS

Cours_particuliers__distance_visioconfrence

These remote lessons are conducted in exactly the same manner as a presentation lesson, but via a video-conference system which does not require any programme installation. The only requirement is an internet connection and a computer with a webcam, speakers and a microphone (or headset). The link is set up with your teacher (always the same one!) who conducts the lesson by means of presentations and an interactive system that allows them to write down examples or vocabulary, directly on the screen, which are then shown to you. You therefore see the teacher writing examples down for you, in real time.

Of course, the lesson materials are designed and adapted to this highly visual way of working. You are given exercises during or at the end of the lesson and they can be downloaded, along with the presentation, at the end of the lesson.

This method is particularly suitable for:

  • People who often travel or who have a complicated schedule (who need to be flexible and therefore may regularly miss group lessons, thus losing track of the curriculum or slowing down the rest of the group)
  • People who have a particular profile, needs or goals which will not fit in with a standard group lesson
  • People who are very reserved and who have trouble speaking to a group
  • Or exactly the opposite, people who want to be sure they can talk as much as possible!
  • People who do not live within the LINGUAPOLIS catchment area.

Because of the different type of concentration required for this type of course, the recommended duration for each lesson is 1 hour to 1h30 rather than 2 hours for a presentation lesson.

Languages : French as a foreign language, German in the near future

6. Distance group lessons (“webinars”) NEW

For the moment, this method is only available for French as a foreign language, intended for German-speakers.

These lessons comprise grammatical points explained in real time, in the form of “webinars” (seminars via internet), by the teacher who uses a form of presentation specially developed for this type of training. You can communicate with the teacher via “chat” or by microphone, depending on the number of participants, to ask any questions during or at the end of the presentation.

This format allows costs to be shared and at a later date – or parallel to these lessons – they can be completed by individual distance lessons. The modules are designed to be gradual. The first one covers the basics of French and the following ones progress gradually to reach more complex notions. These modules have the advantage of targeting specific points. You are free to choose all the modules or just some of them, depending on your level.

Obviously, someone who follows this course will not be perfectly bilingual after just a dozen modules. Grammar – although necessary – is not enough to master a language. It must be completed by vocabulary, language structures, phonetics, oral and written comprehension, culture… and practice!

These group lessons can be usefully completed by individual distance lessons (see point 5)
